The vice-president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) accuses members of civil society of always voting in deliberations for the benefit of the Frelimo party, even in obvious situations of irregularities.
"When we vote, there are always two extra elements. They come from civil society. They constantly vote for the party in power. It's a fake civil society," said Fernando Mazanga.
In the CIP Cast program by the Center for Public Integrity, the senior member of the Renamo party explained the composition of the CNE. He said that of the 17 members, ten are representatives of political parties - five from Frelimo, four from Renamo and one from MDM - and seven from civil society.
According to Mazanga, the entry of "so-called civil society" changed the order of parity that was sought in the CNE. When selecting the members of civil society, the most qualified were passed over because "they didn't fall in with the party".
"Therefore, the fact that elements of civil society have been co-opted, at the moment they are the ones who make the difference," he said.
