The National Migration Service (SENAMI) explains in a statement that Venâncio Mondlane held a diplomatic passport, which was issued when he was a member of parliament for Renamo.
Venâncio Mondlane resigned as a member of parliament in mid-2024 and, with the end of his mandate, the right to use a diplomatic passport inherent to that position ends.
"Under Article 6, in conjunction with Article 15(a) of Decree No. 48/2006, of December 26, Venâncio António Bila Mondlane was granted a Diplomatic Passport as a Member of the Assembly of the Republic, and because he resigned from office on June 3, 2024, he lost all rights inherent to the position, including the right to use a Diplomatic Passport as a Member of Parliament," reads the SENAMI note.
In the meantime, SENAMI says that Venâncio Mondlane can apply for a normal passport if he wishes.
