Tourism and construction sectors laid off 4,300 workers this year

In the country, four thousand three hundred workers in the hotel and tourism and construction industries have been laid off this year as a result of the economic recession in the world and the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic.

The reduction in the flow of customers in hotel establishments and the consequent weak revenue collection and lack of construction work are at the root of the situation.

The inspector-general of Labor, Domingos Sambo, said that the number of dismissed workers may be higher, since some companies do not report to the Labor Administration in the country.

Domingos Sambo said that to minimize the situation, the Labor Administration sector is involved in awareness campaigns for employers. (RM)
