Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) has announced that it has obtained certification to the international standards ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), which demonstrates that it has met the internationally prescribed standards for employee health and safety and environmental conservation.
In a statement released by the company and to which the MZNews had access to, MRM considers that this certification reinforces its commitment to operating in a responsible and sustainable manner, highlighting its position as a reliable partner for clients, the government and other stakeholders.
The certification audit was carried out between September 30 and October 3, 2024, with auditors from Bureau Veritas, a French multinational company specializing in testing, inspection and certification, conducting an inspection of the mine's management system to assess its compliance with ISO standards.
Quoted in the same press release, Bureau Veritas' lead auditor, Ransford Gyambrah, said that "MRM's level of process safety and transparency are remarkable, with all business streams collaborating effectively with the audit". "This represents a real commitment to the well-being of workers, the environment and the sustainability of the business," he said.
For MRM's managing director, Prahalad Kumar Singh, this certification proves that MRM has the internal capacity to create systems and work according to the best international standards. "We consider it a great milestone that shows our genuine desire to improve the way we do business in a responsible and moral way, complying with all national and international requirements," he said.
ISO certification is considered in the market as a benchmark of quality to be achieved by a company, reflecting the organization's business and professional culture.
