Renamo denounces card collection in Buzi

Renamo denuncia recolha de cartões em Buzi

Some political groups are collecting voters' cards at district level and the intention is unknown, the Renamo Party denounced this Monday in Buzi, but without naming names.

Quoted by CIP's Electoral Process Bulletin, Baptista Manuel, Renamo's representative in Búzi, said that his political group was concerned about the phenomenon, since the electoral card is a non-transferable document.

The source said that in order to stop these actions, they are working with their grassroots structures to gather evidence and then submit the case to the district attorney's office.

Renamo is also concerned that voters are registering to obtain cards two or three days later, and has asked the electoral bodies to reverse the situation. In Renamo's opinion, this could be a deliberate action by the people who manage the registration.

For his part, the Director of STAE in Búzi, José Miguel Chefinha, said that it was not a deliberate action on the part of the institution he heads, but that it had to do with the constant cleaning that has to be done at the printers and that last week they were unable to go to the registration offices because they didn't have the fuel to do so.

Likewise, the source said, there was a shortage of cleaning material, but as of this week "the technicians are already in the field because there is fuel". (CIP)
