Penso Escola" Project wins 11th edition of the Millennium Bim Banking Olympics

Projecto “Penso Escola” vence 11ª edição das Olimpíadas Bancárias Millennium Bim

The 11th edition of the Millennium Bim Banking Olympics chose the Nelson Mandela Secondary School as the winner for its outstanding presentation and applicability of the "Penso Escola" Project, which aims to empower girls through the distribution of sustainable hygiene products and the dissemination of fact-based information on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

In second place, the Eng. Filipe Nyusi Secondary School stood out with the "School Aviary" Project, which aims at the production and sale of eggs, while the third place went to the Aeroporto Secondary School with the Project "Eco School"This is a digital platform that will provide services related to tours to the main tourist attractions in Maputo City.

In the occasion, the Millennium bim's Executive Director, Albino Andrade, considered that "the educational orientation that we dedicate in this program, materializes with the intention of contributing for the students to reach their full development as citizens and as students, through a harmonious relationship between the school and the social environment".

The Administrator also highlighted that "we are aware that the knowledge that was shared in this edition regarding the conservation of the environment in light of the principles of sustainability and green finance will be relevant to the construction of knowledge and enrichment of skills.

The Nelson Mandela Secondary School, winner of this edition, was awarded with the value of 100mil Meticais for the implementation of the "Penso Escola" project, a kit composed of a cell phone and didactic material for the students who participated in the winning project.

The Secondary Schools of Catembe; Incassane; Munhuana; Malhampsene; Matlemele; Bonifácio Groveta and Nkobe also participated in the Millennium Bim Banking Olympiad. The students from the participating schools received a diploma and a kit with school supplies.

The Millennium bim Banking Olympics is a financial literacy project that began in 2010 and is part of the social responsibility program "more Mozambique for me", aimed at promoting education and training of young Mozambicans through the introduction of banking and personal finance management concepts, which promote their financial inclusion in society.

The project has already covered more than 4,000 students, 200 teachers in over 100 secondary schools in the city and province of Maputo and Gaza.
