Every Girl Can project funded with $13 million to combat gender-based violence

Projecto Every Girl Can financiado com 13 milhões de dólares para o combate à violência baseada no género

The Every Girl Can (EGC) project, which translates as "Every Girl is Capable", has been funded with 13 million Canadian dollars made available by Canada to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The EGC covers females between the ages of 8 and 24 and aims to ensure that they live free from any form of violence, especially GBV.

The project, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is being implemented in three districts of Nampula province, namely Murrupula, Monapo and Nacaroa, with an implementation period of March 2021 - March 2026 (five years).

The information was expressed recently during a workshop on the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) sign language protocol, in the context of access to justice and child protection.

Moreover, in the same districts, a sub-project - EGC Disability, a sub-component of the Every Girl Can project - is underway, which aims to ensure access to justice for a total of 600 girls and young women with disabilities (with a special focus on hearing impairment) in the same districts where the main EGC in Nampula operates.
