The President of the Mozambican National Resistance, Ossufo Momade, accuses the international community of betrayal and false guarantees of creating the conditions for fair and credible elections.
"We were betrayed. When we were there in the Gorongosa mountains, the community was saying that everything was going to end, that they had spoken to Nyusi and Frelimo about the need to have free, fair and transparent elections," he said.
The President of Renamo pointed the finger during an interview with the television channel STV this Wednesday.
Ossufo believes that the international community recognizes Renamo's victory in the local elections, but condemns the lack of sanctions against the Frelimo party.
"It's not enough just to say that Renamo won and that they condemn [fraud], sanctions are needed. There is a problem of interests here that when there is no more [the international community] will let things happen," he said.
He said it was a direct indictment of the international community and questioned why they weren't condemning the Frelimo government.
"Why do they let things happen? This year we're going to have elections and we're going to continue with the same problems," he said.
