Presidente da ExxonMobil reafirma aposta na exploração de GNL em Cabo Delgado

US multinational ExxonMobil has reaffirmed its commitment to continue its efforts to develop its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exploration project in Area 4 of the Rovuma basin, in Cabo Delgado province.

The newly appointed President of the oil company, Dan Amman, held a meeting with the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, and said that they discussed the continuity of the project and community development issues.

ExxonMobil is leading the Mozambique Rovuma Venture project, which will exploit more than 84 million cubic feet of LNG.

The company owns 25% of the business, and the Final Investment Decision should be made next year, according to assurances from outgoing Chairman Liam Mallon.

During his visit to Mozambique last year, Mallon said that several issues needed to be addressed so that Cabo Delgado province could benefit from the multi-billion dollar project.

"We need to take care of economic development issues for that province and, therefore, security, stability, economic development, for the revenues that are to come," he warned.
