The President of Belarus said on Tuesday in Harare (Zimbabwe) that his country intends to invest in Mozambique's agricultural potential, according to the Belarusian state agency BELTA, quoted today by the portal Vision.
Alexander Lukashenko said that "Mozambique is the largest country in the neighborhood with a coastline of a thousand kilometers and is an agricultural country, which requires a lot of investment in agriculture".
Lukashenko revealed that Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa had shown a willingness to help with this objective, thanks to "good relations with Mozambican leaders".
"We will soon discuss how to transfer our experience of cooperation between Zimbabwe and Belarus to Mozambique," added the Belarusian head of state, on the second of a three-day official trip.
On Tuesday, the two countries signed trade and cooperation agreements that provide for the supply of more agricultural equipment and tools to Zimbabwe. The idea is to avoid double taxation and promote the mutual recognition of academic diplomas.
Lukashenko also offered to sell potash fertilizers to Zimbabwe, adding that despite Western sanctions, Belarus "was able to sell large quantities of fertilizers".
