PR announces tightening of restrictive measures. Classes are suspended in some cities

The President of the Republic has just announced tonight, in his communication to the Nation, the intensification of measures to slow down the third wave of the covid-19 pandemic in the country.

According to the Mozambican Head of State, classes are suspended in all education systems, except for higher education, in the cities of Maputo, Xai-Xai, Inhambane, Beira, Tete and Dondo.

In addition to classes, services and all social events are also banned, as well as gyms, theaters and swimming pools. The buses, according to Filipe Nyusi must be disinfected by the owners.

"Restaurants and take aways will now operate from 06H-18H. Food stalls will now operate from 06H-17H," said Nyusi.

The measures come into effect as of the evening of July 17 and may be updated after 15 days, depending on how the situation develops.
