Paulo Vahale will pay a fine of three million meticais for hazardous waste

Paulo Vahale vai pagar uma multa de três milhões de meticais por causa do lixo perigoso

A car belonging to the Nampula City Council has deposited hospital waste, considered to be highly dangerous, in a community area.

It all started with an amateur video filmed on May 9, in which the Nampula City Council car is seen depositing hazardous waste in a place where children have access.

After the video was leaked, investigations were carried out and it was found that there had been a violation of the Environmental Law, so the National Environmental Quality Control Agency said it would fine the mayor of Nampula, Paulo Vahale, 3 million meticais.

"We're still working on it, but the survey based on the law, we're going to impose fines and they could amount to 3 million meticais.

We'll see what contracts there are between the City Council and Emozala, and if it's for the City Council, the fine will go to Paulo Vahale," the National Environmental Quality Control Agency told TV Sucesso.
