Mozambican writer and social activist, Paulina Chiziane, received the Forbes 2024 Social Responsibility Individuality Award last Friday (19) in the Angolan capital, Luanda, for her role in fighting for the rights of African women.
The announcement was made by the director of Forbes Lusophone Africa, Nilza Rodrigues, who emphasized that Paulina Chiziane is one of the leading voices of Lusophony.
After receiving the award, the Mozambican writer questioned the place of the "African businesswoman", arguing that Africa's economy is in the hands of informal vendors, because it was they who built the continent and continue to defend it entirely.
"Africa needs conscious people who know their history, their origins and who respect their place. We need to reverse the situation and look at our countries with the eyes of freedom," said Paulina Chiziane, quoted by Forbes Lusophone Africa.
