Paul Pogba suspended from soccer for doping. Player vows to appeal decision

Paul Pogba suspenso do futebol por dopping. Jogador promete recorrer da decisão

On Thursday (29), the National Anti-Doping Tribunal suspended French footballer Paul Pogba for a period of four years after he tested positive for doping.

The international press reports that the 30-year-old midfielder has put his soccer career in jeopardy and could quit immediately. He will turn 31 this month.

The player tested positive for testosterone in September last year, in a routine check carried out by Serie A during the match between Juventus and Udinese on August 20, in which he ended up not playing any minutes.

Reacting to the decision, the player expressed his shock at having everything he had built up during his career taken away from him.

"When I no longer have legal restrictions, the full story will be known, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplement that violated anti-doping regulations. As a professional athlete, I would never do anything performance-enhancing that involved banned substances, and I have never disrespected or cheated the other athletes or the fans of the teams I played for, either for or against. As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport," the player wrote on his Instagram.
