Lusophone countries exported 7.2% less to Macau in the first four months of the year, compared to the same period in 2020announced on Friday the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC)
Lusophone countries exported goods worth 221 million patacas (22.6 million euros) to the former Portuguese-administered territory from January to April 2021, DSEC said in a statement.
On the other hand, Lusophone countries imported products worth only 322,000 patacas (33,000 euros), still an increase of 135.2%, he said.
In total, Macau exported products valued at 4.52 billion patacas (463 million euros), an increase of 24.8% compared to the same period in 2020.
In terms of merchandise imports by the Chinese special administrative region, the value was 43.43 billion patacas (4.5 billion euros), or 116.6% more, year-on-year.
The trade deficit through April this year was MOP38.91 billion (EUR3.9 billion), down from MOP16.4 billion (EUR1.6 billion) for the same period in 2020.
In the first four months of the year, the total value of foreign trade in goods was MOP47.9 billion (€4.9 billion), up 102.5%, from the same period in 2020.
