Election observers condemn rise in hate speech between political parties

Observadores eleitorais condenam elevação de discursos de ódio entre partidos políticos

The hate speech have marked the second week of the electoral campaign for the general elections on October 9 as negative, according to the Mais Integridade Electoral Consortium.

Speaking today in Maputo at the presentation of the results of the second week of vote hunting, the Executive Director of MISA Mozambique, Ernesto Nhanale, lamented the fact that party supporters, especially those of Frelimo, are involved in acts of promoting political hatred.

Nhanale, representing the More Integrity Electoral Consortium, noted that it is from speeches that skirmishes arise. In this sense, he called on political parties to stick to purely thematic speeches, and for analysis of the competencies of candidates or political parties to take place with respect for the dignity of those targeted.
