Nissan wants 50% of its cars to be electric by 2030

The Japanese automaker Nissan Motor has announced a plan to make more than half of the cars it sells worldwide electric, investing some 17.61 billion euros over the next five years.

The investment also aims to launch 23 new electrified models - including 15 fully electric and eight hybrid models - from its Nissan and Infiniti brands in that period.

In terms of sales in Europe, the Japanese manufacturer aims to make more than 75% of its sales electrified vehicles.

By that date, the company also expects more than 55% and 40% of the vehicles it sells in Japan and China, respectively, to be electrified.

For the American market, the Yokohama-based company also expects its sales of such cars to account for more than 40% of its total sales by 2030.
