Nampula: “Dugongo” investe 200 milhões de dólares na construção da quarta fábrica

Mozambican cement company Dugongo Cimentos is to build its fourth plant in the expansion zone of the Nacala municipality in Nampula.

The foundation stone for the construction of the factory, whose total investment amounts to 200 million dollars, was laid today by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Silvino Moreno.

According to data provided at the launch, the new cement plant is expected to produce 6,000 tons of clinker a day from locally mined limestone, not only to feed the plant in the cement production process, but also to sell to other cement companies in Nampula and Cabo Delgado.

The factory will be set up on an area of 50 hectares, and construction is expected to take 18 months.

In terms of labor, it is expected to generate around 2,000 jobs during the construction phase and 600 during the operation phase, according to information provided by the Minister of Industry and Trade.

In a direct way, the factory will regulate the price of a unit (bag) of cement, which in Nampula has cost as much as 700 Meticais in recent years, compared to the average of 450 Meticais in Maputo city.

It should be noted that the country currently has a total of 11 operational cement production plants.
