National and international experts in economic matters met yesterday in Maputo to discuss the challenges of the world economy in 2023 and their impact on Mozambique at an event organized by Moza banco.
The event was the result of a partnership with the Dom Cabral Foundation, considered the 9th largest business school in the world and the number one in Latin America.
At the meeting, which was opened by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moza Banco, João Figueiredo, relevant topics were discussed regarding the national and regional outlook in a context of international economic challenges, with emphasis on the inflationary pressure of energy and food products, the war in Ukraine and other critical factors.
Speakers at the Round Table included Brazilian Professor Paulo Vicente, Omar Mithá, Chairman of BNI and Economic Advisor to the President of the Republic, Paulo Varela, CEO of Galp Moçambique, and Manuel Soares, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Moza Banco.
On the occasion, Moza's PCA highlighted the importance of the discussions, reinforcing the Bank's commitment to contributing to the growth of the country and the region, valuing the role of knowledge as a vector for development.
"As a major player in the Mozambican economy, and as part of its responsibility and commitment to contributing to national development, this debate is expected to contribute to the sharing of knowledge that will enable the different players, each at their own level, to make more informed and well-founded decisions," said João Figueiredo.
According to Figueiredo, this Round Table marked the start of a series of initiatives aimed at exchanging knowledge and experiences, with the aim of strengthening inter-institutional relations and boosting social and economic development.
The debate on the "Challenges of the World Economy in 2023 and their Impact on Mozambique" was only possible thanks to the combination of synergies between Moza Banco, the Dom Cabral Foundation, the Brazilian Embassy in Maputo, the University Foundation for the Development of Education (FUNDE) and the Polytechnic University.
