Monta-Engil, a Portuguese company operating in the field of civil construction, intends to triple its business volume to above 3,500 million euros per year by 2026, according to the company's strategic plan.
To reach this goal, the company counts on a strong "balanced contribution" from Europe, Africa, America, and beyond.
The company document mentions that the "implementation of the group's new management model that will promote greater efficiency, as well as the deepening of cooperation" between Mota-Engil and the new shareholder, China Communications Construction Company, owner of 32.4%, will also be relevant.
The group has prioritized more significant growth in the environment, concessions and industrial engineering services segments, which will allow the non-construction business to contribute 55% to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, (EBITDA) by 2026 and engineering and construction to reduce its contribution to 45%.
"The strengthening of the Industrial Engineering Services segment, considered one of the group's biggest growth drivers in the coming years, will be supported on the solid pipeline and extensive experience in Africa," with the proposed target for 2026 being to achieve €425 million of turnover in this segment (€129 million in 2020) and EBITDA margins of 33%.
Mota-Engil aims to increase the "average size of the markets with balanced contribution from the regions of Europe, Africa and Latin America", to raise the consolidated EBITDA margin to 18%, with improvement in its conversion into 'cash', and to improve profitability in order to achieve a net margin of 3% in the group's net result.
It is known that Mota-Engil closed 2020 with a turnover of 2,429 million euros, which represented a drop of 17% when compared to the previous year. Already in the first half, the company invoiced 1,138 million euros.
