Moçambola-2025: FMF to announce the fourteenth team for the competition this week

Moçambola-2025: FMF vai anunciar esta semana a décima quarta equipa da prova

The withdrawal of Brera Tchumene from Moçambola and from soccer itself, for financial reasons, about three weeks ago, cast a dark shadow over the National Championship that starts next April, as it was uncertain whether the competition would be contested by 13 or 14 teams, as is regulated by law.

On the same day that the Tchumene team formally announced their withdrawal, the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) sent a series of invitation letters to four clubs, namely relegated Moçambola-2024, Textáfrica of Chimoio and the three beaten finalists of the three "Poule" of Qualification-2024 in the three regions of the country, namely Sporting of Nampula (North), Matchedje of Mocuba (center) and Incomáti of Xinavane (South) so that, if they want and meet the conditions, one of them can fill the vacancy left by the "nero-verdis".

However, according to a Challenge newspaperThe thing is, all four of these clubs had other prospects for the 2025 season, in other words, they had made all their plans, budgets and squad compositions with a view to competing in the II Division Provincial Championship in their respective territorial districts.

Furthermore, Brera's withdrawal was announced late, i.e. very close to the close of the licensing window for Moçambola clubs, which closed on February 21.

Meanwhile, the FMF guarantees that, once the four contenders for the Moçambola spot have been assessed, it will officially announce the fourteenth team in the competition this week.
