Mozambique is exempt from the first qualifying round for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, a competition reserved for players playing in the domestic leagues of their respective countries.

The exemption is the result of the Mambas' good position in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rankings. The national team will therefore compete in the second round. Meanwhile, the draw is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, October 9, in Cairo, Egypt.

According to a Challenge newspaperOnly nine of the 14 federations from southern African countries have confirmed their participation in this qualifying round.
