The Minister of Finance, Carla Loveira, met today, Wednesday (19) with the regional director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Southern Africa, Cláudia Conceição, with the aim of analyzing the IFC's involvement in development projects in the country.

According to information published on the Ministry of Finance website, the meeting also served to align the program of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a World Bank institution, with the new Governance Cycle 2025-2029, as well as to explore new areas of support and financing in Mozambique.

On the occasion, the Finance Minister reiterated the new government's commitment to continue working with traditional partners such as the IFC to implement reforms for inclusive growth and the achievement of economic stability in a context of many challenges resulting from social upheaval.

"We invited the IFC to invest more visibly in the restructuring of the financial sector, in terms of resizing the different existing Public Funds and those that are to be created to facilitate access to credit and reduce risk, as well as in the Project on the creation of the Development Bank. She also invited the IFC to support the government in boosting the Secondary Capital Market," said Carla Loveira.

For her part, the IFC's regional director for Southern Africa, Cláudia Conceição, referred to the areas in which the global financial institution operates, with particular emphasis on structuring profitable projects through equity financing which is then passed on to the Mozambican state, support for privatization processes, structuring public-private partnerships, as well as strengthening the financial infrastructure and digitalization and financial inclusion ecosystems.

"Mozambique is considered a priority country, which means that the IFC's bet on the country is to invest in priority areas," said Cláudia Conceição, reiterating her commitment to working with the new government and highlighting the areas mentioned by the minister as those that are in line with the IFC's Program.
