The Mozambican government granted this Thursday, 22, the necessary credentials for the beginning of the SADC military operations, which will support the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado.
According to the portal "VOA", the measure was made official by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Veronica Macamo, in a meeting with the Special Representative of the Alert State Force Mission, Moho Molomo.
The Mozambican diplomatic chief said on the occasion that "the government will do everything to ensure the success of the mission, namely, the eradication of terrorism in the region.
Malawi will send troops
For his part, Moho Molomo described the accreditation received yesterday as a fundamental step for the military mission, whose elements have begun to arrive.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense, through its spokesman, Colonel Omar Saranga, denied that the SADC contingent, which in principle will consist of three thousand men, is already in Mozambique.
Saranga said that he has initiated the arrival of regional military personnel who will be commanded by South African General Xolani Makayi.
Another fact is that Malawi will also send troops to integrate the regional mission, contrary to what was reported, which pointed to the withdrawal of the army of Lilongwe.
