Ministry of Planning and Development to manage humanitarian aid in the country

Ministério de Planificação e Desenvolvimento passa a gerir a ajuda humanitária no País

The government, through the Council of Ministers, has decided to delegate the management of humanitarian aid in Mozambique to the Ministry of Planning and Development.

According to the spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Inocêncio Impissa, who was speaking after the end of an ordinary session, which this time took place in Lichinga, Niassa province, the decision aims to guarantee an equitable distribution of the resources intended to support the affected communities.

According to the spokesman, the idea is for the Ministry of Planning and Development to start coordinating humanitarian aid so that donors don't prefer to support one district and neglect another, while both need the same assistance.

"The idea is to coordinate the action of non-governmental organizations so that there is no overlapping of support in a certain district while another isn't getting any help," said Inocêncio Impissa.
