Millennium Challenge Corporation resumes support to Mozambique

The United States resumes support for Mozambique under the Millennium Challenge Corporation program after 17 months of suspension.

The announcement was made this Wednesday, to the press, by a delegation of that American government organization, after a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Veronica Macamo.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation's Director for Mozambique, Kenneth Miller, explained that the private sectors of agriculture and rural transport are a priority.

At this stage, work is starting to identify the package of projects ready to be implemented by 2023, as advanced by the MCC Coordinator in Mozambique, Higino de Marrule.

The United States Ambassador to Mozambique, Dennis Walter, said that the implementation of MCC actions is the main focus of his mission in the country.

It is estimated to be more than 400 million meticals, the amount to be disbursed in the implementation phase of the agriculture projects, under the Millennium Challenge Corporotation.
