Millennium bim opened its art collection to exhibit its works in order to pay tribute to Mozambican artists.
Entitled "Between Colors and Forms: Plurality of Voices", the exhibition is made up of 14 works of art on display since Thursday (17) at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center. Through it, Millennium bim also aims to value and stimulate the creative capacity of Mozambican artists.
"This decision to share the works we have with the community is, of course, aimed at valuing the artists, who try every day to put their ideas into practice, which they truly share with society," said the chairman of Millennium bim's Board of Directors, Moisés Jorge.
According to Moisés Jorge, the works on display are mostly by deceased artists, adding that this initiative also aims to pay tribute to Mário Machungo, who chaired Millennium bim for more than 19 years, since its foundation in November 1995.
"This is also a tribute to Dr. Mário Machungo, who was the driving force behind the acquisition of these works, but also to engineer Fonseca. They were two men who, over all these years, didn't invest, but also made sure that, at some point, we could share these works with society," explained the PCA.
The first in a series of exhibitions of the Millennium bim art collection, it brings together part of the collection of works that have been collected over the last few years, highlighting the works of Malangatana, Bertina Lopes, Estêvão Mucavele, Shikani, Naguib, and Eugénio de Lemos, among others.
Also present will be creations by Jacob Estêvão, José Pádua, Victor Sousa and João Paulo, who represent a rich diversity of styles and approaches to Mozambican art.
