Mia Couto launches "O Caçador dos Elefantes InvisÍveis

"The Invisible Elephant Hunter" is the latest work by the Mozambican writer, Mia couto.

This is another of Couto's works in the "world of tales" and is the result of a collection of chronicles published by him for more than two years in the magazine "Visão".

It is his return to short stories, portraying the various moments of the Mozambicans' day-to-day life, while also commenting on some issues that mark the country's current affairs.

The Mozambican writer narrates current stories, from the pandemic to the drama of the war in Cabo Delgado, describing episodes that could have happened in a village, inside a forest reserve, or in any neighborhood in Mozambique.

The loneliness experienced by Mia Couto during the pandemic also inspired him to produce this literary work.

At the launching of the book, he explained that it is dedicated "to the people who make me think that Mozambique is made of small stories, of people who don't want to be invisible, who every day, when they have to go home, get into a my love, a chapa, and run the risk of having no other destiny but this invisibility.

So the stories are made to render that space of visibility to these people.

In his work, Mia Couto maintains a "mythical and poetic vision" of human existence, mixing irony and humor in stories marked by a critical look at the history of Mozambique.

The work was launched this week, at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation, in Maputo.
