More than 440 thousand cattle will be immunized against foot-and-mouth disease

Mais de 440 mil bovinos serão imunizados contra febre aftosa

In the country, at least 445,000 cattle should be administered the second dose of vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease in the coming days, as part of prophylactic measures to prevent the emergence and spread of the disease.

According to the National Directorate for Livestock Development (DNDP), these are animals that received the first dose between last May and July, which, according to the livestock authorities, represents a coverage of 80% of the expected number and an increase by 100% compared to the previous year.

The campaign will cover some districts of Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Manica, Sofala, Tete and Zambezia, areas that in recent years have registered cases of the disease, forcing the authorities to decree restrictions on cattle movement.
