Following the implementation of the "One Gesture, One Smile" Project in Xilembene, the Machel Fidus Association promoted in Maputo, a set of trainings within the school vacations for the students of Xilembene.
The 5 days of training sessions gave students in the 8th to 12th grades the opportunity to assimilate theoretical and practical knowledge from different areas of knowledge.
In this sense, during 3 days the participants benefited from an exchange developed in partnership with the Aga Khan Academy, which trains leaders of the future through a globally recognized curriculum called the International Baccalaureate.
At the Aga Khan Academy, students participated in workshops in public speaking, visual arts, and design, which are crucial skills in an increasingly globalized world.
In the last two days, students from Xilembene and the Aga Khan participated in the 2nd edition of Youth Empowerment Training promoted by the consulting firm TJ Consultants.
In this training, students were equipped with notions on discovering their talents, financial education, career planning, etiquette, and entrepreneurship.
For the last module, the participants were challenged to apply the acquired knowledge by developing a business plan to be later implemented by the students in a 12-month period.
On the occasion, the group with the best business plan was awarded with working materials in order to promote youth entrepreneurship as a source of development in the Village of Xilembene, located in Gaza province.
The realization of this vacation program unequivocally demonstrates the commitment of the Machel Association and its partners, Aga Khan Academy and TJ Consultants, in promoting training that enables the improvement of the skills of Xilembene's students.
