Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) is mobilizing cargo ships in the international market to respond to business opportunities in the transportation of agricultural products with high commercial and export value.
The fact was announced, recently, in Maputo, by the General Director of LAM, João Pó Jorge, during a working visit of the Planning and Budget Commission (CPO) of the Assembly of the Republic, as part of the parliamentary supervision and oversight in the State Enterprise Sector.
For this case, according to the newspaper Notícias, the national company will start, in the next few days, to transport litchi, produced in the province of Manica, to the French market, at a time when business opportunities are also opening up in the transport of other types of cargo in the country.
According to LAM's general manager, the freighters being mobilized will not only be used for agricultural products with a high commercial and export value, but also for working materials for the multinationals that are investing in natural gas exploration in Cabo Delgado province.
"We are thinking of sending freighters for agricultural products with emphasis on litchis from Manica to France. But everything depends on the capacity of the market to buy the product that is quite valuable in Mozambique," said Pó Jorge.
