Mozambique Airlines announced today the suspension of flights between Maputo and Lisbon from tomorrow (19), a strategy aimed at consolidating the domestic and regional market.
The decision was announced at a press conference, where it was explained that the measure is in line with the 100-day governance plan and is also intended to assess the performance of the routes operated by the company, namely Maputo - Harare, Lusaka - Maputo and Cape Town.
"The aim is to give a new positioning to the quality of passenger assistance products and services," says the national airline.
According to the company's spokesman, Alfredo Cossa, the measure is also justified by the high losses accumulated by LAM, which exceed 21 million dollars since the route was inaugurated.
"In less than 20 days, we realized that the Lisbon operation was not generating the expected results, and the decision was made to suspend the route," said Cossa.
The Maputo - Lisbon route was resumed on November 20, 2023 after being abandoned almost a decade ago.
