South African court dismisses case against Jacob Zuma's party

Justiça sul-africana rejeita acção contra partido de Jacob Zuma

On Monday (22), the South African courts rejected a lawsuit by the African National Congress (ANC) party, in power since 1994, against the party of its former leader and ex-President of the Republic Jacob Zuma.

According to the South African press, quoted by the newspaper SundayThe KwaZulu-Natal High Court, in the port city of Durban, rejected the ANC's allegations that the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) "unlawfully" used the same name and logo as its former armed arm uMkhonto we Sizwe, known since its foundation in 1961 as 'MK'.

However, speaking to the press, ANC provincial spokesman Mafika Mndebele promised that "the ruling party will appeal the court's decision".

It will be recalled that in March, the ANC lost another court case in an attempt to outlaw the political party of former President Jacob Zuma, a candidate in the general elections on May 29.
