Jazz, Pop & Rock at the second Maputo Global Concert

Jazz, Pop & Rock na segunda Edição do Maputo Global Concert

Jazz, Pop & Rock is the musical proposal for the second edition of the Maputo Global Concert, which will take place on Tuesday, September 24 at the Maputo Port Gallery, promising a vibrant evening of global music.

The event will feature the special participation of American saxophonist Paul Nicholas Roth, a professor at the University of California, San Diego, and two Mozambican music groups: the Kuche Quartet, led by saxophonist Timóteo Cuche, and the pop-rock band "Indigo Blue", led by Xavier Machiana (former lead singer of the band Rockfeller's).

The Maputo Global Concert, the brainchild of Timóteo Cuche, a lecturer at Eduardo Mondlane University and junior researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology in Portugal, aims to promote interculturality and global dialogue through music. It also has the partnership of Chico Matada, founder of Global Club Night in Helsinki, Finland and Xavier Machiana and Indigo Blue. This initiative brings together musicians, researchers and educators from different parts of the world, focused on using music as a tool for raising awareness and social transformation.

The first edition took place in April this year and featured musicians from Finland, Tanzania and Mozambique, from the University of the Arts Helsinki, Makumira University in Tanzania and Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique.
