Japão anuncia apoio de 2 milhões de dólares para assistência alimentar em Cabo Delgado

The Government of Japan has disbursed 2 million dollars to the World Food Program (WFP) to provide food aid to around 48,000 displaced people in Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.

In a statement, the WFP revealed that the money will improve the living conditions of the victims of terrorism in Cabo Delgado. "This timely contribution will allow us to support the country's most vulnerable populations by distributing rice and canned food from Japan to around 48,000 internally displaced people in Cabo Delgado province for a period of six months," the statement said.

The province of Cabo Delgado has been in the grip of an armed conflict since 2017 that has terrified the population. Rebel groups have been looting and massacring villages and towns all over the province, and a variety of attacks have been claimed by the 'arm' of the self-proclaimed Islamic State in that region.

According to data from The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project report, the conflict has led to more than 4,000 deaths and at least a million displaced people, according to an assessment made by the authorities.
