The understanding about the new minimum wages in the country, whose proposal may be known next August, is coming soon. This information was given in Tete by the general secretary of OTM-Central Sindical, Alexandre Munguambe.

At the moment, the social consultation groups with the government are finalizing in detail the various economic aspects of the new wage scale.

The new wages will be defined according to the economic situation of each sector, taking into account the harmful effects caused by the covid-19 pandemic, which continues to affect workers and employers.

The General Secretary of OTM-Central Sindical said, in Tete, that after the agreement that came out of the social consultation, the referred documents will be submitted to the appreciation of the Council of Ministers.

"There is a whole effort to alleviate what is the high cost of living that workers face. So we are waiting for various proposals, because there are nine sectors of activity and each sector had its economic performance. So it's not one number, it's several numbers that we are waiting for and are still negotiating. It is true that some sectors have already reached agreements, others have not, but the whole effort is being made to readjust, since the standard of living has skyrocketed a lot," he said.

 In Tete, the Secretary General of OTM-Central Sindical held separate meetings with representatives of the provincial decentralized governing bodies and the various unions.
