IPEME confia à Gapi a gestão e operacionalização de fábrica de rações

The Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME) and Gapi signed this Monday morning, September 12th, at the Private Registry Office of the Ministry of Finance, a public deed for the cession and exploitation of a manufacturing enterprise located in the District of Chimbonila, Niassa Province.

Initialed by representatives of these two institutions, namely Joaquina Daniel Gumeta, General Director of IPEME and Adolfo Adriano Muholove, President of the Executive Committee of Gapi, the agreement had as witnesses the National Director of Industry, Sidónio dos Santos, the Director of the Mozambique Cereals Institute, Mahomed Valá and staff from both institutions.

The undertaking, currently being concluded, is composed of a Ration Factory with a nominal processing capacity of 1.5ton/h, a redundancy Generator Group with a capacity of 150KVA, a truck weighing scale with a capacity of 50/ton, and a Quality Control Laboratory for raw material and finished product.

Addressing those present at the event, Joaquina Gumeta said she hoped that "this step will contribute to the reduction of chicken exports and to the dynamization of the value chain of raw materials used for the production of feed. Our expectations are high, which is why the Ministry's staff responsible for industry and for cereals and oilseeds are present here.

Adolfo Muholove said he would not elaborate, saving more in-depth considerations for the inauguration phase of the factory, however he did not fail to "reiterate our commitment to materialize this project that will help us fulfill our mission of 'Contributing to economic, social and financial inclusion in Mozambique, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and job-creating investments. When we talk about employment, we are not only talking about the direct workers of the factory. We also look at all those who will be involved, from the farmers to the commercialization stage.

Gapi, which is the Private Partner in this partnership with the Public Sector, will also act to boost and promote the integrated development of poultry value chains (feed production, marketing, promotion of corn and soybean production, the main raw materials for feed production, and other activities related to the poultry value chain) in line with the project document for Employment Generation and Income Improvement in Niassa Province.

At the same time, and under the agreement now being referred to, it must capture, apply, and manage the financial resources necessary for the execution of the project, develop and promote mechanisms for the integration of the various participants in the poultry sector, through the implementation of a system of vertical integration, which will include technical assistance and promotion.

The linking of the markets will be the complementary step, a phase in which the main indicator will be the observation of the quality standards recommended for this activity. (Gapi)
