Government has already paid 13th salary to 50% civil servants

Governo já pagou 13.º salário a 50% de funcionários públicos

The government has already paid the 13th salary to half of the agents and employees of the state, the spokesman for the executive and Minister of State Administration and Civil Service said today in Maputo.

"At least half of the staff have been paid so far. Around 80% of the special regime staff, but also 50% of the general staff," said Inocêncio Impissa.

According to him, the government's goal was to have completed the payment of employees' salaries by this Friday. However, "this depends on the speed with which the institutions confirm and rectify the pay slips".

He said that current forecasts indicate that the salaries could be paid next week, between Monday and Tuesday.

The government has approved the payment of the 13th salary for 2024 in 50% for agents and state employees and in 100% for pensioners.

"This measure will be carried out in a single tranche in February. However, this measure does not cover ministers, deputy ministers, deputies, governors, secretaries of state, as well as members of the boards of directors of direct and indirect state administration institutions," said Impissa after a Council of Ministers session in January.
