The government appeals for calm, to the workers of the sugar mill in Xinavane who contest poor working conditions and who on Wednesday carried out acts of vandalism.
The Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Security, Rolinho Farnela, assured that the government will continue to monitor the negotiations between the employers and the labor masses.
"Decisions are not taken unilaterally, it is necessary to involve the other component in South Africa, the presidency of the company itself does not reside here in Mozambique, it only has a representation. All these factors weigh in the negotiation process, so it is this calm that we would ask the workers, and all others involved to discourage the use of demonstrations and violence, above all," he said.
This Wednesday, the Police, in Maputo province, arrested 27 people, involved in the riot caused by the sugar mill workers of Xinavane, in Manhiça district.
The alluding workers burned tires in the streets, destroyed homes and acres of sugarcane, and set up barricades that prevented access to the village of Xinavane.
