Ressano Garcia border in a state of alert due to pandemic

As of this Monday, July 12, the borders with South Africa are in a state of high alert due to the daily increase of positive cases accompanied with deaths and hospitalization throughout the country, especially in the cities of Maputo, Tete and Beira.

The migration and health authorities at the border of Ressano Garcia, reposition themselves at that border post regarding the control of the covid-19 virus to travelers entering or leaving Mozambique. Quoted by e-Globlal, acting chief Ernesto Maquina further explained that the measures cover all individuals, including employees at that post.

This work aims to prevent the contamination that is occurring in almost the entire country. Two elementary school in the city of Beira registered positive cases, diagnosed in five teachers who are currently under home quarantine.

These are five teachers from Nhangau and Esturro Comprehensive Primary Schools who tested positive last week. According to the director of the district's Women's Health and Social Action Services, the teachers concerned are asymptomatic.

One of the measures taken by the health sector, to prevent the spread of the disease, was to screen all teachers and students, who were in contact with them.

Despite the growing number of covid-19 cases, residents of Beira are not complying with the basic rules of preventing the disease, such as wearing a mask, washing hands, and staying away.
