South Africa's First National Bank (FNB) is Africa's most valuable banking brand according to the 2021 Brand Finance Banking 500 ranking.
According to the same ranking, FNB is also among the 200 most valuable banks in the world (157th) out of 500 banks, and is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Namibian Stock Exchange.
Six other South African banks feature in the ranking, namely: Standard Bank (down 7% about 1.3 billion), ABSA (down 19% about 1.2 billion), Nedbank (down 19% about 908 million), Investec (down 16 1TP2Q about 900 million), Capitec Bank (down 251TP2Q about 443 million) and Rand Merchant Bank (down 181TP2Q about 227 million).
However, it is worth noting that in the ranking of the 500 best institutions in the world published recently by Brand Finance, seven South African banks are included.
These are First National Bank (157th worldwide), Standard Bank (162nd), ABSA (164th), Nedbank (197th), Investec (199th), Capitec (300th) and Rand Merchant Bank (434th).
In this group only Standard Bank maintained its 2020 rating, with the other six falling
