Small producers in the agro-processing sector in the provinces of Nampula, Niassa and Zambézia will be able to benefit from 25.5 million dollars from Feed the Future (Promoting Innovative and Resilient Agricultural Market Systems in the Nacala Corridor - FTF Premier) to boost their businesses.

This is a USAID-funded initiative that will be implemented over five years in the districts of Nampula, Malema, Nacala and Meconta (in Nampula); Cuamba (Niassa) and Gurué and Alto Mulócuè, in Zambézia.

The funding will go towards the production of corn, soybeans, peanuts, common beans, cashews, sesame, cassava and poultry, according to the News.

Each development will have a budget of 250,000 dollars, this being the ceiling and 25,000 dollars the minimum.

"The aim is to increase the resilience of agricultural market systems in the Nacala Corridor to absorb, adapt and respond to external climatic, economic and political shocks, reproduce poverty and improve food security," says Marc Steem, head of FTF Premier.

The project is expected to provide around 110,000 jobs, mainly for young men and women.
