EY announced this Monday that it has promoted 16 new partners in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique, as part of the appointment of 830 new partners of the consulting firm globally, who will start in this position as of July 1st.

"It is with people - and the talent they put at the service of the organization and the community, in a constant exercise of intelligence, will and commitment - that we are able to materialize our purpose and contribute to building a better business world," explains the country managing partner of EY Portugal.

João Alves believes that these 16 professionals who have risen in the hierarchy of EY Portugal, Angola and Mozambique are "handfuls". "That in this leadership position, to which they have risen by merit in the ladder of the professional career they are making, they may be an example and inspiration for those who, like them, face the future head-on, with ambition and with hope," hopes the consulting firm's national leader.

The promotion of 830 new partners globally was the largest ever in the company's history. In this movement, more than a third (35%) are women, which was also a record number. In geographical terms, the Americas stood out as the region with the highest number of promotions (341), followed by Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA), with 290, and Asia-Pacific, with 199.

In the opinion of EY's global president and CEO, this is an "exceptional achievement" by all. "Each of them achieved this milestone under difficult circumstances, which is a testament to their leadership and commitment to EY's values. EY's success is made possible by these diverse leaders and their promotion is the result of their dedication to clients, teams and EY's purpose of building a better business world," said Carmine Di Sibio.

Regarding departments, Assurance was responsible for one third of the new partners (270), of which 220 are in Audit. This was followed by Consulting with 205, Tax with 189, and Strategy and Transactions with 145. Finally, there are 21 new partners in business support (2%), according to the information transmitted by EY.

"EY is focused on developing the next generation of transformational leaders and empowering EY people to build the careers they want. This group of new partners will bring their diverse experience and skills to better serve EY's clients, while remaining focused on EY's broader ambition to create long-term value for all," added EY Global Vice President of Talent Trent Henry.
