State spent 3.7 billion trying to resuscitate LAM and AdM

Estado gastou 3,7 mil milhões na tentativa de ressuscitar LAM e AdM

The attempt to revive the companies Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) and Aeroportos de Moçambique (AdM) cost the state coffers 3.7 billion meticais in 2023.

Despite the effort to respond to the companies' financial difficulties, the Ministry of Economy and Finance estimates that both will continue to expose the state to fiscal risk, at around 1.2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025.

Systematically, AdM, Tmcel and LAM have been registering payment delays - already accumulated - which can translate into additional charges to the State Budget, with internal and external creditors. In 2023, these accumulations totaled four billion meticais. (Source: Notícias. Image: DR)
