The South African authorities handed over former Finance Minister Manuel Chang to the US authorities in Johannesburg this morning.

According to RDP, a South African government source confirmed that Manuel Chang is being taken by private jet.

"The Ministry of Justice can confirm that Manuel Chang has been handed over to law enforcement agencies in the United States of America, where he is expected to face trial for a variety of fraud-related matters, among others," said Chrispin Phiri, spokesperson for the South African Ministry of Justice.

"Mr. Chang left the country this morning," he said.
