EDM honored for trade facilitation in Africa

EDM distinguida por facilitação do comércio em África

The company Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) was awarded the "Intra-African Trade Award" yesterday, March 12, for being one of the companies in the energy sector that stands out the most in facilitating trade in Africa.

According to a press release from EDM, the award took place during the Africa Trade Conference, an event organized by Access Bank Mozambique in Cape Town, South Africa, which aims to promote Africa's economic transformation.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, EDM's Financial Director, Anastácio Inácio, stressed that Access Bank's distinction consolidates the company's position in the international arena and adds to its commitment to excellence in the provision of services and the consolidation of a commercially profitable energy business at national and regional level.

"EDM will continue to focus on the search for innovative commercial solutions and sustainable practices, making the most of Mozambique's immeasurable energy potential, which, like all African countries, has abundant natural resources," said the Director quoted in the press release.

Anastácio Inácio also stressed that every kilowatt produced, transported, distributed and marketed by EDM in Mozambique and Africa must be at the service of the continent's development, positively impacting on the improvement of people's living conditions.

This is the first time that a Mozambican company in the energy sector has received an award for trade facilitation in Africa, in a

conference attended by various leaders of economic groups in Africa, such as African Commercial Banks, the International Trade Organization, the African Trade Zone
