The debt of the State Enterprise Sector (SEE) increased by 3.99% in the last quarter of last year, compared to the previous quarter. The bill went from 38.17 billion meticais to 39.6 billion meticais.
This performance is due to the total increase in domestic direct debt of 6.83%, according to the News, citing the July-September quarterly bulletin on public debt.
This is due, among other things, to the expansion of the accumulated domestic debt by 1.4 billion meticais and the external debt by 111 million meticais.
This is backed up by the contracting of new loans by Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) and Empresa Moçambicana de Seguros (EMOSE).
There was an increase of 4.89 million dollars due to the increase in the direct external debt of Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), by 7.46%, and Aeroportos de Moçambique (ADM), by 1.22%.
CFM, EMOSE and Mozambique Airlines were the biggest contributors to the increase in domestic debt. CFM's balance increased by 17.61% due to the contracting of new financing. Likewise EMOSE, which took out a loan of 237 million meticais as part of the execution of a guarantee with Banco Mais. And LAM contracted a debt of 207.25 million meticais due to the late payment of an installment due in September.
