The Secretary of State for Youth and Employment, Osvaldo Petersburg, recently said that about one million jobs have been createdin the last five years.
Some sectors of public opinion question the figures presented by the Government of job creation for young people, saying that the impact of this is not felt, especially since productive areas continue to be neglected, and many of the jobs are precarious.
"What are these jobs, what is the impact of this for young people?" wonders economist Inocência Mapisse, for whom reality shows that the level of unemployment is increasing, especially in this context where several companies are closing down because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the armed attacks in Cabo Delgado."
She does not know whether the goal of creating three million jobs in the current five-year period will be achieved and notes a report by Standard Bank and the Office of National Statistics "that shows the deterioration of the business sector and the impact of that on employment.
There are those who claim that the increased level of unemployment results from the fact that the government is neglecting the agricultural sector, which has enormous potential in terms of creating job opportunities for youth.
However, Salomão Muchanga, of New Democracy, understands that it is not only agriculture, the other productive sectors of society also remain neglected, "and it is these sectors that could provide opportunities for young people.
Muchanga emphasizes that agriculture is seen as the basis for development, "but its budgetary sense is quite diluted.
For the young Policarpo Tamele, agriculture is one of the sectors that can provide secure jobs with dignity for youth, "so in the State Budget, the amount allocated to agriculture should, as a priority, be allocated to youth, so that they feel motivated to get involved in this activity.
However, the Minister of Agriculture, Celso Correia, assumes that "it is felt that there are few young people embracing agriculture, and this may mean the failure of the productive system, because they are the ones who, in times of crisis, are called to supply the country.
The analyst Tomás Rondinho understands, however, that everything depends on the existence of a credible and consensual youth policy, in which employment is one of the fundamental aspects "because this is one of the ways to avoid problems such as criminality, drug trafficking, among others.
