Red Cross announces 20 M$ for humanitarian assistance in central and southern areas of the country

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society has nearly $20 million available for humanitarian assistance for floods and cyclones in central and southern Mozambique.

The announcement was made this Thursday by the regional director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Mohamed Omar, after being received in audience by the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves.

Right now, the agency has been doing some interventions in the Beira and Buzi regions, in the water, sanitation, shelter, and health components.

At the end of the meeting with the Mozambican counterpart, the regional director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies described the meeting as fruitful.
