Construction: Government says that inspection failures are due to insufficient technicians

Construção: Governo diz que falhas na fiscalização devem-se a insuficiência de técnicos

The government said this Wednesday in Maputo that the failures and delays in the supervision of public works are due to the lack of technicians and the location of the infrastructures.

The Inspector General of the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Daniel Baloi, said that the technicians available were unable to be present at every construction site.

"The lack of technicians on the ground means that the work is often carried out without following building regulations," he admitted, quoted by RM, at an event promoted by the Mozambican Federation of Contractors.

Regarding the abandonment of works by dishonest contractors, the Inspector General told the press that the sector continues to pursue and hold offenders to account.
